[POEM] To The Dead We Give Breath by Philip Haggard Berry

Jesus raising Lazarus from the Dead.

To The Dead We Give Breath

by Philip Haggard Berry

at last!

here's the past!

it crept past

we slept fast

and it was away

we hunted

we caught it

now "then" is the day!

Those sounds,

Those visions,

we thought they were lost!

The magic,

The moments,

we melt permafrost!

now, at last,

here's the past

as sweet as remembrance

hold fast,

to our past,

how fleeting the last dance

forever embraced

black leather, white lace

forever entranced

with the dead

we once danced

at first time moved on

at worst we grew old

at last time rewinds

to our youth we will hold

no more of this "future"

no more of this "death"

old wounds we will suture

to the dead we give breath
